LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 29th annual UC San Diego Athletics Golf Tournament drew a record number of players to Maderas Golf Club in Poway last week. The 140-player field consisted of donors, fans, coaches, staff, and other members of the Triton family.
This year's event raised a record $40,000 to aid in providing an optimal scholar-athlete experience for the men and women participating on the University's 24 intercollegiate teams. The fundraiser helps offer UC San Diego scholar-athletes a valuable, diversified experience that benefits them far beyond their years at the University. Funds are used for such items as scholarships, team travel, equipment, uniforms, recruiting, and other ways of improving the scholar-athletes' undergraduate years. Donations can be directed to a specific intercollegiate team or designated for the general fund.
A silent auction and dinner followed 18 holes of golf.
"Thank you to those who came out to this year's tournament to support our University, the athletics department, and our scholar-athletes," said Danielle Melman, UC San Diego Senior Associate Athletics Director. "The Triton community's contribution was outstanding and will enhance the educational and athletic experiences of our scholar-athletes. We are incredibly grateful to have such impactful supporters here at UC San Diego."
The 2026 UC San Diego Athletics Golf Tournament is set for May 4 at Maderas.
