Tritons Sweep Doubleheader

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – UC San Diego (12-25) secured a 3-1 victory over Cal Poly (8-31) on Friday at Bob Janssen Field, aided by a decisive two-run fourth inning. The Tritons then followed up with an impressive 11-0 win in the second game of the doubleheader, highlighted by a nine-run third inning.

The Tritons hold an overall record of 12-25, with a Big West Conference record even at 10-10. Cal Poly has an overall record of 8-32, with a conference record of 3-17.

In the first game, Jaden Hill contributed both offensively and defensively, recording one hit, one RBI, and a double while also making four assists. Senior pitcher India Caldwell delivered a complete game performance allowing five hits, and one unearned run with one strikeout. She showcased efficiency with 72 strikes out of 109 pitches. Zara Wasserman made an impact with two hits and one RBI in three at-bats. Lily Hermosillo added a double and scored one run, while also catching one base runner stealing.

In the second game, Zara Wasserman led the Tritons with three RBIs and a double. Haley Garcia contributed two hits and two RBIs, including a double and a stolen base. Jaden Hill reached base three times with a hit and two walks while driving in one run. Claire Adams pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits and striking out four over five innings.
