Need to Know » Alex Leopard's eight RBI ties UC San Diego's all-time single-game RBI record (Tyler Durna vs Cal St. East Bay; March 29, 2018 & Justin Rahn vs Cal Poly Pomona; May 16, 2014) and his three home runs ties the all-time single-game HR record (Matt Cantele vs Cal St. Dominguez Hills; March 29, 2007) as well. This Week » The Triton women continue their road trip at Cal Poly for another three games, this weekend.
Last Time Out » The Tritons played at UC Davis and won the series 2-1.
Need to Know » Elise Nishimura led the weekend series win at the plate with a .429 batting average scoring three runs on three hits and batting in two more. On defense, the second baseman was critical with 6 putouts and 10 assists.
TRACK AND FIELD
This Week » The Tritons will be spread across Los Angeles County this week for three separate meets. The Tritons are set to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational (Thursday-Friday), Mt. SAC Relays (Friday) and Beach Invitational (Friday-Saturday).
Last Time Out » UC San Diego hosted the 32nd Triton Invitational April 4-5. The Tritons won five events and set two school records, Anthony Flowers in the 200m (20.88) and Sylvana Northrop in the 5,000m (16:24.50).
Need to Know » Most of the team will compete at the Beach Invitational, including some who will also be at the Mt. SAC Relays. A number of events will be contested each day on both the track and field. Long Beach State is also hosting the Big West Championships May 16-17, with this weekend's event giving the Tritons a run-through at the facility.
CELEBRATING THE BIG WEST CHAMPS
Women's basketball was recognized prior to the San Diego Padres game against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night at Petco Park. Head coach Heidi VanDerveer threw out the first pitch at the game.
SPRING COMPETITION
Some Tritons have been getting back in action with spring games including women's soccer and women's volleyball.
About UC San Diego Athletics
After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I. The 23-sport Tritons earned 30 team and nearly 150 individual national championships during its time in Divisions II and III and helped guide 1,400 scholar-athletes to All-America honors. A total of 84 Tritons have earned Academic All-America honors, while 38 have earned prestigious NCAA Post Graduate Scholarships.
