Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
CSUN stole home after baiting a second base steal to get on the board in the first inning. The lead would last only until the bottom of the inning, however, as the Tritons loaded the bases and advanced along the basepath with a Lomanto walk.Â
Â
Leopard took the very next pitch well over the right field fence for a grand slam to make it 5-1 heading into the second inning.Â
The Tritons added six runs on four hits in the second inning to build an 11-1 advantage. Crossland knocked an RBI double to left field and Camacho brought in two more runs with a triple down the right field line. Lomanto brought in Camacho with a double down the left field line and Leopard capped the inning with another right field bomb.Â
Â
Emiliano Gonzalez and Camacho each collected an RBI double to make it 13-1 in the third inning before CSUN cut into the lead, 13-2, off a bases-loaded walk in the fourth. The visitors clawed back two runs in the fifth inning via a home run over the right field wall, and surged in the seventh for another two runs off a double and single to make it 14-6. Â
Â
The hosts responded in the bottom of the seventh with another Leopard home run to retain the double-digit lead, 16-6. A Hackworth RBI single to shallow center field brought in one run, before making it home himself off a Potestio RBI single to make it 18-6. Â
Â
Thacker, Hackworth, and
Thomas Maher kept the runs rolling in the eighth with an RBI double, RBI single and sacrifice flyout respectively to make it 23-6 going into the final inning.Â
