Tritons Fall to Bruins in Tuesday Nightcap

LOS ANGELES – On Tuesday night at Easton Stadium, UC San Diego softball fell to host No. 9 UCLA in five innings after shutting out the Tritons in a 9-0 decision.

The Tritons move to 7-22 overall while the Bruins improve to 34-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Getting the start in the circle, Claire Adams gave up six earned runs on seven hits and two walks. The starter struck out two in her two innings of work. Coming on in relief, Callie Christian allowed two runs on five hits and struck out a Bruin in her 1.2 innings of work. Finishing in the circle for the Tritons, India Caldwell faced one batter and forced a ground out in five pitches.
UC San Diego struggled at the plate with only four runners getting on over the five innings. Facing a no hitter through five innings, two outs were on the board when Haley Garcia knocked the first hit of the game on a 2-2 count. It was the first time the Tritons threatened in the game as Zara Wasserman earned a walk prior to Garcia's hit, putting runners on third and second before the final out was punched.
