LUBBOCK, Texas—UC San Diego baseball fell to Texas Tech, 13-1, on Wednesday afternoon in Rip Griffin Park. The Tritons (8-5) split the midweek series, 1-1, with the Red Raiders (3-8).

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Red Raiders got the scoring started in the second inning, scoring on a sacrifice fly. Texas Tech added another run in the third inning, taking a 2-0 lead on a bases-loaded walk.
The Red Raiders added two more runs in the fourth and fifth innings, scoring on a ground out and a wild pitch in the fourth and a pair of RBI singles in the fifth. Another RBI groundout in the sixth gave Texas Tech a 7-0 advantage.
The Tritons managed to break through in the seventh inning when Gonzalez hit a solo home run, putting the team on the scoreboard with the score at 7-1.
However, Texas Tech added three more runs in the bottom of the seventh and the bottom of the eighth to secure the 13-1 victory.
The Tritons totaled six hits in the contest and stranded 10 runners on base.
