SANTA CLARA, Calif.—UC San Diego baseball fell to Santa Clara, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon in Schott Stadium. The Tritons (13-13) moved to 0-3 in the weekend series with the Broncos (12-11) after giving up an early 4-0 lead.

Anthony Potestio led the Tritons offensively with three RBI off a home run, while
Gabe Camacho finished 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and an RBI.
Noah Lazuka knocked the only other extra-base hit for the Tritons with a triple, finishing 1-for-4. Starter
Nic Gregson was solid in 3.0 innings, allowing three hits and no runs with no walks and two strikeouts.
Sam Hasegawa (2-1) was credited with the loss, pitching the final 2.0 innings and allowing one run on two hits with one walk and one strikeout.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons were first to strike with a three-run home run to right center by Potestio in the top of the third inning. UC San Diego added a run in the top of the fifth with an RBI double to right field by Camacho to make it 4-0.

Santa Clara responded in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run homer and tied the game, 4-4, in the sixth with a pair of RBI singles.  The Broncos took the lead an inning later with a solo home run to make it 5-4.

UC San Diego looked to even the score once again in the top of the eighth after a leadoff triple by Lazuka. However, the Tritons were unable to bring him home, ultimately falling 5-4 to drop the series.
