Wellerstein Scores Second Half Equalizer

SAN JOSE, Calif. – UC San Diego men's soccer drew even in their Thursday night matchup against San Jose State. Evan Wellerstein scored the Triton's equalizer in the second half.
 
UC San Diego continues to search for their first win of the season and move to 0-4-2 while San Jose State moves to 1-2-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both squads remained scoreless in the first half with the Tritons tallying two shots to the Spartans' eight. In the 52nd minute, the Spartans went ahead on a long shot above the box.
 
The Tritons responded five minutes later off a free kick. Quinn Sellers switched sides of the field with a long ball to Max Carvalho who kept it in with a single touch sending it back to Adam Hillis. The defender lifted the ball on a header finding Evan Wellerstein on the far side of the goal to put it away.
 
 
UC San Diego tallied four more shots with one on goal, but the match remained tied after 90 minutes.
