LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego men's soccer drew even with Lipscomb University on Sunday night after coming back from a 2-0 deficit to tie at 2-2.
Quinn Sellers netted his first collegiate goal to draw the Tritons within one and
Max Carvalho sunk the equalizer.
Lipscomb moves to 1-1-1 and the Tritons are now 0-3-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lipscomb struck first in the 30th minute to go ahead 1-0. In the first half, UC San Diego took 10 shots with six on goal to LU's two shots. The second half was more of the same with the Tritons taking seven shots with two on goal.
LU extended their lead in the 54th minute to 2-0. The Tritons responded five minutes later when
Quinn Sellers took a long shot from the top of the box to pull within one.
The Tritons kept the pressure on as hunted for the equalizer. It was in the 79th minute when the gold and blue were able to find the back of the net.
Andrew Valverde sent a shot in that was deflected by the Lipscomb keeper.
Kai Oppenheim rebounded the save with a bicycle kick to
Max Carvalho, who buried it.
In the final minutes, UC San Diego took three more shots on goal while Lipscomb took three more of their own.
Adam Hillis led the Triton defense as he blocked a critical shot in the 87th minute.
