Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tritons Fell Rebels in Saturday Night Friendly

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Hosting UNLV in their final friendly match of the preseason, UC San Diego men's soccer took the Saturday night victory at Triton Soccer Stadium behind a goal from Max Carvalho.

The match was even throughout as the Tritons tallied four shots on goal and the Rebels took three of their own. Each side earned four corners, but it was once again the Triton's defensive pressure that made the breakaway play possible. A long ball was sent from the left side of the field to Cole Barrett, who was in a dead sprint down the right-hand side. The newcomer brought the ball down from the air with a touch and on his next two steps sent the cross in to Max Carvalho who buried it in the 85th minute of play.

After regulation was over, the two squads played an extra 30-minute period. The Rebels were able to score, however the Tritons netted their goal own behind the foot of Anthony Bugliari with an assist from Michael Luechauer.

UC San Diego opens regular season play on Thursday, Aug. 22 against Santa Clara University.
