LA JOLLA, Calif.— A league-high 284 UC San Diego scholar-athletes were named to the Big West Commissioner's Honor Roll as the conference announced its honorees Wednesday.
To be eligible for the honor roll, student-athletes must be on a team roster in a Big West-sponsored sport and were eligible for competition over the 2023-24 academic year. There are three categories on the list based on GPA: Honor Roll (3.00-3.20), With Honors (3.21-3.50) and Highest Honors (3.51-4.00).
The Tritons also led the way with 151 on the Highest Honors list. They had 79 With Honors and 54 at the Honor Roll level.
Overall, 2,409 scholar-athletes from the 11 Big West institutions and 19 conference-sponsored sports were recognized.
Following UC San Diego on the list are UC Santa Barbara (280), UC Davis (259), CSUN (245), Hawai'i (235), UC Irvine (234), Long Beach State (208), Cal State Fullerton (196), UC Riverside (177), Cal State Bakersfield (150), and Cal Poly (141).

After two decades as one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, the UC San Diego intercollegiate athletics program began a new era in 2020 as a member of The Big West in NCAA Division I.
