TEMPE, Ariz. – UC San Diego dropped both games in their morning doubleheader to James Madison and North Florida. JMU defeated the Tritons in a 6-3 decision and North Florida took the win in six innings with a 10-2 final score.
The Tritons drop to 4-13 while James Madison improves to 12-5 and North Florida improves to 10-7.
JAMES MADISON 6, UC SAN DIEGO 3
Striking in the first,
Gabby Williams lanced a double out to left center to bring in
Lexi O'Gorman. The freshman was waiting on second for Williams after hitting her won double to get on. The Tritons remained scoreless for the subsequent three innings.
In those innings, JMU took the lead scoring six over four innings.
In the fifth, O'Gorman was on first after lacing a single up the middle when
Deena Pederson cracked her first home run of the season over the left field fence to cut the deficit to 6-3.
Attempting a seventh inning rally, O'Gorman led the way again after singling through the left side. She advanced to second when Pederson reached on a JMU error. Williams advanced them both after a fly out. The Tritons were unable to overcome the pitching staff as the final out came.
NORTH FLORIDA 10, UC SAN DIEGO 2 | 6 INN.
Getting on the board first in the third,
Morgan Eng was the lead off runner after slapping a single to the right field. Eng advanced to second on a wild pitch. Pederson was pitched four straight balls to walk.
Teagan Dobson then loaded the bases when the Ospreys pitching staff walked her.
Hailey Mulligan then plated the speedy Eng and Pederson on a single to left field. The inning end with Mulligan and Dobson stranded.
In the fourth, a Triton error extended the inning on two outs and the Ospreys proceeded to score five runs. They added another run in the fifth on another Triton error. Hanging four more runs in the sixth, North Florida ended the game early hitting 10 runs.

- Between the two games, the Tritons left 16 runs on base.
- Lexi O'Gorman is on a three-game hitting streak and went 4-for-8 today at the plate with two runs scored. She is the only freshman in the top 10 batting average for the Big West at .400 overall.
- Hailey Mulligan was 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
- Deena Pederson tallied her first home run of the season against James Madison.
- The Tritons have recorded an error in 16 of 17 games.
- This was the first meeting of UC San Diego and James Madison.
