QUOTABLE
"It was a very demanding day to follow up our win yesterday," head men's tennis coach Timmer Willing said. "One of the most difficult things to do in sports is to follow up after a big win. We started strong getting the doubles point against Boston University but it was only because of the tough matches we have been playing. BU was on pace to win the match and were outplaying us and we found a way to win in the final match of the third set."

"In the second match of the day, we got the point and the lead in singles only to find ourselves fighting off a late surge and for the second time today Pelayo Rodriguez clinched the match. There were many key wins from specific spots on the team and even some tough losses, which contributed to holding the momentum to allow others to clinch. We had two great days for us and we now focus on finals and preparing for UCLA on March 31."

TRITON TIDBITS
  • Friday's pair of victories over the Terriers marked the Tritons' first doubleheader sweep since transition to Division I.
  • Rodriguez was a key cog in UC San Diego's win on Friday as his wins in singles helped clinch both matches for the Tritons and improved his record to 7-7 in singles this season.
UP NEXT
The Tritons will now enjoy having the next 16 games off as they prepare to head north for a matchup with the UCLA Bruins on Sunday, March 31 at 1:00 p.m. from the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
