Men's Tennis Comes Up Short Against Nevada

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Competing on their home courts for the second day in a row, the UC San Diego men's tennis team (0-5) came up short in another hard fought match as they fell to the Nevada Wolfpack (1-0) by a 4-3 final score on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Competing in a clinch format to begin doubles action, the Wolfpack were able to get off to a fast start as they won a pair of matches early on to take the initial point on Friday.  

Fighting back after dropping the initial point, the Tritons were able to get three key victories as Diogo Tinoco, Pelayo Rodriguez and Charles Qian each picked up individual wins to account for the three UC San Diego points against the Wolfpack.

TRITON TIDBITS
  • Rodriguez worked hard and earned his first singles victory of the new season as he's competed at various spots in the lineup this season as he won today at the third spot in the Tritons' lineup. 
  • Tinoco and Qian were each able to pick up their second singles wins of the season as they played at the second and fourth spots in the lineup 
UP NEXT
UC San Diego will now enjoy a week away from competition before returning to the Northview Tennis Courts as they're set to face the Utah State Aggies in a doubleheader on Saturday, Jan. 27, with first serve scheduled for 11:00 a.m. PST.
