Tritons Wrap Four-Game Home Stand

LA JOLLA, Calif. – Wrapping up a four-game home stand to open the 2023 season, the UC San Diego men's soccer team fell to the Westcliff Warriors in a 2-1 result after the visitors went ahead in the first half.

The Tritons move to 0-3-1 on the season while the Warriors move to 4-0-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Westcliff struck twice in the first half to get an early lead at 2-0. The visitor's goals came in the 10th and 18th minutes of play. The Tritons took five shots to the Warriors' four in the first half and earned two corner kicks to their one. UC San Diego only forced one save in the first half.

In the second 45 minutes, the Tritons dominated with five shots to the Warriors' zero, however Westcliff held the defensive line against the increased attack. It wasn't until the 83rd minute that Brian Arens was able to find the back of the net on a header for his first career goal with an assist by Alessandro Allen to put the Tritons on the board.

The Tritons kept up their relentless attack, but were unable to equalize as time ran out.
