UC San Diego Falls to Aztecs in Resumption of Wednesday Match

SAN DIEGO  – In a resumption of Wednesday's postponed match, UC San Diego fell to host San Diego State, 4-3, at Aztec Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. After the Tritons captured the doubles point before rain postponed action on Wednesday, the host Aztecs won four singles matches on the way to the comeback victory Saturday.
 
Daniel Traxler and Pelayo Rodriguez were singles winners for UC San Diego for the second consecutive day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego took the doubles point on Wednesday thanks to 6-4 wins at No. 1 (Daniel Traxler/Pelayo Rodriguez) and No. 3 (Joseph Teh/Diogo Tinoco). 
 
In singles play, five of six matches were in the first set when the rains came Wednesday evening, postponing action until Saturday. When play resumed, the Aztecs forged ahead with straight sets victories on courts 4, 5, and 2. With his team trailing 3-1, Traxler earned a hard-fought 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win over Johannes Seeman on court one. That cut the Tritons' deficit to 3-2, but the Aztecs clinched the win thanks to a win at the third position. Rodriguez played his match to completion on six, winning 6-1, 1-6, 6-3.
