HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons put up a tough fight in today's match, but the Aggies came ready to earn the win in their first conference match of the season.

In the doubles contests, UC San Diego performed well, extending each match with close scores. At No. 2, Eric Silberman stepped in to partner with Phillip Lan and the duo took their match to a tiebreaker. Though all three matches were tight, the Aggies ultimately clinched the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2, which left No. 3 unfinished.

The battle continued in the singles matches, with the Tritons determined to earn themselves some wins. Their first victory came at No. 1, where Daniel Traxler responded to a first-set loss with a second-set win and a tiebreaker to take the third. Diogo Tinoco at No. 3 also showed resilience as he won the first set, lost the second, and came away with the third set to earn UC San Diego its second singles point. At No. 5, Pelayo Rodriguez maintained his usual toughness, earning a 7-5 win in the first set. Charles Qian picked up a 6-3 win in the opening set of his No. 6 match-up.

QUOTABLE FROM HEAD COACH TIMMER WILLING
"It's been a very long week with five straight days of competition. The guys are mentally and physically depleted.

They had some very good success starting with PAC Coast Doubles, getting match points against a top team in the world in Stanford. We fell by one point.

Then, the rollercoaster ride began. We beat a tough Villanova team convincingly and then lost against 37th-ranked UC Santa Barbara to open our Big West season.

Today's battle was intense. We fought very hard and gave it everything we had. We fell short in many close matches. I'm proud of our effort, both physically and mentally.

We were an extremely resilient group this past week and I couldn't be more proud of them. I know we are better today than we were a week ago."
