HOW IT HAPPENED
After a few schedule changes and a delay due to rain, the Tritons faced a difficult challenge in the Rainbow Warriors.
The doubles match got off to a rocky start for the Tritons as the effort from
William Lan and
Eric Silberman at No. 2 was cut short. Swift losses at Nos. 1 and 3 left Hawai'i in the lead to kick off the match.
In singles, the Tritons came out ready to fight back and pick up some wins.
Pelayo Rodriguez (No. 5) and
Jett Cole (No. 6) competed valiantly, pushing their first sets to 5-7.
Diogo Tinoco gave a strong effort at No. 3, winning decisively in two sets, 6-2, 6-3 over Vojta Vlkovsky.
Ultimately, the Tritons fell short of their competition as Hawai'i clinched No. 4 to end the match 4-1, leaving Nos. 2 and 5 unfinished.

QUOTABLE WITH COACH TIMMER WILLING:
"We had a tough match today. Hawai'i came out and played strong doubles to get the point. We fought well and were close to getting back in the match with some set wins and Diogo clinching his match. Hawai'i hung in and was able to close out the match versus Charles to clinch. Proud of the fight, but we need to prepare better mentally so less distraction enters our planning."
UP NEXT
