LA JOLLA, Calif.—After trailing, 4-0, UC San Diego baseball battled back to defeat CSU Bakersfield, 8-4, on Saturday afternoon in Triton Ballpark. The Tritons (14-6, 5-0 Big West) remain unbeaten in Big West play, taking game two against the Roadrunners (8-13, 0-5 Big West) for their ninth consecutive victory and third series win in a row.

Michael Fuhrman finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, including a solo home run—his third of the season—and
Patrick Hackworth went 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored.
Doyle Kane also recorded multiple RBI in the game, finishing 1-for-2 with three walks and two RBI.

Ryan Rissas (1-1) earned his first win of the season, facing the minimum and shutting out the Roadrunners in the final two innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED
CSU Bakersfield took a 4-0 lead over the Tritons, scoring two in the top of the first and adding a run in both the fourth and fifth.

The Tritons struggled to get going offensively, securing their first hit of the game in the fourth inning. UC San Diego finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth with the solo home run by Fuhrman to make it 4-1.Â

The Tritons tied the game an inning later with three runs in the bottom of the seventh. UC San Diego scored on an RBI single by
Luke Saunders and knotted the game at 4-4 after an RBI double down the right field line by Hackworth.Â

UC San Diego broke the game open the following inning, scoring eight runs in the eighth to make it 8-4.
Crew Robinson brought in the go ahead run with a fielder's choice to scored
Emiliano Gonzalez from third.
Matt Halbach drew a bases-loaded walk for an insurance run and Kane knocked a two-out bases-loaded single to score two more.

After coming out of the bullpen in the eighth, Rissas retired all six batters he faced and recorded two strikeouts to earn the victory.

- Â Halbach turned in his ninth multi-hit game of the season, Larson recorded his sixth.
- Doyle Kane extended a 12-game hitting streak.
- It is the 13th time this season the Tritons have recorded 10 or more hits in a game.
- UC San Diego becomes the only remaining undefeated team in Big West play and currently sits alone in first place, 5-0.
- The Tritons improved to 5-4 in the all-time series with CSU Bakersfield.

The Tritons will wrap up the weekend series with CSU Bakersfield on Sunday at 1 p.m. It is Youth Day in Triton Ballpark, with the first 100 kids (12 and under) receiving Triton socks.
