PALO ALTO, Calif. – UC San Diego men's and women's teams competed at NCAA West Regional Championships with
Vedran Markota and
Renee Zuhars sweeping epee to take gold for both sides. Seven Tritons total made the podium.

ON THE WOMEN'S SIDE
In saber,
Sarah Shen,
Janna Aboudaher,
Zara Fearns, and
Roxane Cayrat represented the Tritons. The squad took sixth, seventh, eighth, and tenth.

Kyra Wu,
Rafaella Gomes,
Joanne Luong, and
Emily Luo represented the gold and blue in foil. Wu posted an 8-2 record on the day to take silver. Gomes finished in fifth place with Luong and Luo taking tenth and eleventh place respectively.

Taking gold in epee,
Renee Zuhars posted a 12-2 record on the day. Joining Zuhars was
Tean Brooks, Amelia Wu, and
Bella Balogh. Brooks finished fourth on the day with Wu taking fifth just behind her, and Balogh finished thirteenth.

ON THE MEN'S SIDE
In foil,
Larry Song,
Jacob Levy,
Lucas Zeng,
Rishi Ranadive represented the gold and blue with two taking the podium. Song posted an 8-2 record to take silver with Levy taking third with a 7-3 record.

The saber squad of
Shawn Kim,
Jerry Pan,
Phileas Auray, and
Daniel Noble also took second and third. Kim went 10-3 to take silver with Pan going 8-5 to finish third. Auray and Noble finished a six and seven respectively.

Vedran Markota went 12-2 in epee to take gold over the field of 15. His teammates took fourth, fifth, and sixth.
Isaac Ive went 9-5 to finish fourth.
Derek Rong also finished 9-5 to take fifth place, and
Milan Rona went 8-6 to finish sixth.

"I am very proud of the competitiveness the team out together on the strips today," head coach Juan Ignacio commented. "It was a very solid performance across weapons that puts us in a strong position to go for the MPSF Championship tomorrow and to qualify a record number for NCAAs."
