SAN DIEGO – UC San Diego women's tennis continued its challenging spring slate, falling at defending Mountain West champion San Diego State by a 7-0 score Saturday afternoon at Aztec Tennis Center.

The Aztecs took the doubles point thanks to a 6-1 victory at No. 1 and a tough 6-4 win at third doubles. The Tritons' No. 2 team of junior

Grace Gamal led 5-4 before San Diego State clinched the point.
In singles action, the Aztecs earned straight sets wins at No. 2, 4, and 3 to clinch the victory. Senior captain
Sophie Pearson battled at the fifth position before falling to the Aztecs' Andreea Velcea.
On court six, sophomore
Katelyn Vu and SDSU's Rania Azziz went back-and-forth for more than two hours. Azziz took the first set, but Vu came back to take the second set, 7-6 (8). In the third set, Azziz won the tiebreak by a 10-6 score to seal the victory.
