HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind early, the Tritons battled to keep pace with the CSUF offense. The Titans held a 12-6 lead before UC San Diego put together a six-point run to tie the game with 2:01 on the clock. Fullerton then went on a 10-2 run to close out the quarter and took a 22-14 lead into the break.
Â
The Titans extended their lead to as many as 12 before the Tritons rallied with a 10-2 scoring run—sparked by eight consecutive points from Forsyth—to make it 24-28. A late three-pointer by CSUF extended the Titans lead again, 33-26, as the teams headed into halftime.
Â
The Tritons kept pace with Fullerton to open the second half before an 8-0 scoring run by the Titans extended their lead, 46-31. UC San Diego continued to battle and chipped the deficit back to single digits, 52-43, heading into the final quarter break.
Â
Cangelosi hit a three to open the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to six, but Fullerton responded with a three-point play of its own. With the Tritons trailing 55-48 midway through the quarter, CSUF put together a 10-2 run to effectively stall UC San Diego's momentum and secure the eventual victory, 71-57.
