Tritons Celebrate Senior Night

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego fell to UC Davis in their final home game of the season, 2-1, on Saturday night.
 
The Tritons move to 4-10-3 overall and 3-4-1 in Big West play. UC Davis moves to 7-6-3 overall and 4-3-1 in the Big West, moving into a tie for third place with UC Irvine.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The scoreboard remained empty for the first half as both teams fought to get the go-ahead goal. UC San Diego outshot UC Davis 7-4 in both halves with six goals on target to the Aggies four.
 
The Tritons fell behind UCD in the second half when the Aggies scored in the 45th minute, seconds after kickoff. Davis extended their lead in the 55th minute with another goal netted to go up 2-0 on the Tritons.
 
UC San Diego earned 21 free kicks over the course of the match and were able to put six shots on target. In the 88th minute, Iñaki Iribarren was able to bring the Tritons within one off a of a cross from Max Carvalho. The senior netted his 10th goal of the season off the header.
 
The comeback fell short for the Tritons as they were unable to net the equalizer in the final two minutes of play.
