Second Straight Triton Comeback Nets LaPlante Win No. 600

LA JOLLA, Calif. – After last weekend's trip to Arizona, the UC San Diego women's tennis team was at Northview Tennis Courts for the first time this spring. Down 3-1, the Tritons rallied to defeat Nevada, 4-3, in a great match up in La Jolla. The win marked career victory No. 600 for UC San Diego head coach Liz LaPante.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons fought hard throughout doubles with senior captain Rachel Wagner and sophomore Katelyn Vu grabbing their second doubles win this season, at No. 3. Following a loss at No. 1, freshman Grace Gamal and sophomore Naomi Nguyen came back for redemption hoping to take the point in a tiebreaker but fell short, 7-6.
 
Singles matches were an intense battle with sophomore Kelly Leung taking the first win at No. 1, 6-6 and 4-1, tying the match. Nevada earned wins at Nos. 4 and 2 to take a 3-1 lead. The fight was not yet over with sophomore Katelyn Vu and senior Sophie Pearson securing their single matches against great competition at Nos. 6 and 5. With a 3-3 score, Grace Gamal fought to win the tiebreaker facing Nevada's Anastasia Luneva, with an impressive finish of  6-4.
