Tritons Hold Cal to 1-1 Result in Sunday Nightcap

LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego ties California 1-1 in their first Pac-12 matchup of the Division I era.

The Tritons move to 3-0-1 while the Golden Bears move to 0-1-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego and Cal battled through the first half. The Tritons sent three shots to the Golden Bears' four. The Tritons forced five corners and kept the pressure on Cal's defense as the game grew physical with seven fouls committed by the Bears.

After a scoreless first half, the Tritons' patience and pressure paid off when Carter Jacobus was fouled in the penalty box setting up a penalty kick. Alessandro Allen found the back of the net sending the Tritons ahead 1-0 in the 72nd minute.

Responding in the same minute, Cal tied the score at 1-1.

In the second half, the Tritons were able to record two shots with the Bears taking eight. Dominic Peters along with his defensive line of Noah Sonenstein, Jake Serpa, Adam Walker, and Euan Clark held the Bears to their one goal over 90 minutes. Peters recorded two saves.

The teams continued to battle as the clock wound down, but the final score remained tied 1-1.
