Tritons Fall to Split Series with Oregon

UC San Diego dropped a 15-6 decision to the Ducks on Wednesday

EUGENE, Ore.—UC San Diego baseball dropped a 15-6 decision at Oregon on Wednesday evening to split the series 1-1 at PK Park.

The Tritons (22-25) were led by Ryan McNally who finished 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, two RBI and a run scored. Luke Glascoe went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Matt Halbach went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego got on the board first, scoring on an infield single by Halbach to take a 1-0 lead. The Triton defense got out of an early jam in the bottom of the inning with two Ducks on base and no outs, with a double-play and a ground-out to third.

The Ducks (29-20) did most of their damage early, scoring five runs in both the second and third innings to take a 10-1 lead.

In the top of the fourth, UC San Diego scored on an RBI single to right field by Brock Kleszcz to score McNally from second. Oregon answered in the bottom of the inning to get the run back to make it 11-2.

The Tritons cut into the deficit again, scoring three runs in the fifth with a bases-loaded walk by McNally and a two-RBI single by Glascoe to make it 11-5. However, the Ducks answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the frame and added one more in the eighth to build the lead to ten, 15-5.

UC San Diego advanced a runner into scoring position in the sixth and two in the seventh, but the Tritons were unable to bring them home. In the ninth, Halbach knocked a two-out single and advanced to second before McNally drove him in with a single to center field but that was all the Tritons could add, eventually falling 15-6.
