LA JOLLA, Calif. – On April 23, in the Saturday afternoon doubleheader, UC San Diego split the final two games of the series with UC Davis, 1-1.
The Tritons move to 22-22 overall and 10-8 in the Big West. The Aggies drop to 19-24 overall and 7-10 in the Big West.
In game one,
Gabby Williams got the start for the Tritons, allowing no runs on four hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Four unearned runs were recorded during Williams' time in the circle.
Shelby Thompson came in for one inning of work, allowing one run on two hits with no walks. Finishing in the circle,
Kaia Simpson allowed one run on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
At the plate,
Isabel Lavrov who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI recorded, and
Clarissa Reynoso recorded three RBI and went 3-for-3 at the plate.
Jada Cecil got the start for the Tritons in game two and allowed no runs on three hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Kaia Simpson relieved Cecil in the seventh, allowing no runs, no hits, and no walks to seal the shutout win.
Playing shortstop in game two,
Deena Pederson went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored.
Isabel Lavrov recorded two runs going 1-for-2, and on her solo-hit of the game,
Keila Bosinger recorded three RBI in her two at-bats.
GAME TWO: UC DAVIS 6, UC SAN DIEGO 5
Recording a team high with five errors in game one of the doubleheader, UC Davis capitalized to score six runs. The Aggies struck first and led the Tritons, 2-0, heading into the bottom of the third.
The Tritons struck back with a four-run inning ignited by
Reilly Erickson who laced a single through the left side on her first pitch. The Aggies walked
Kelley Renner in four pitches.
Keila Bosinger advanced both runners with a single laced up the middle. On a fielder's choice,
Deena Pederson reached with Erickson out at home. Bases were loaded as
Isabel Lavrov singled out to right center, plating Renner and Bosinger and advancing Pederson. Lavrov was able to move into scoring position on the throw.
Clarissa Reynoso batted Lavrov and Pederson in when her single sped down the left field line past the third baseman.
In the fifth, the Tritons tied the game again on a sac fly from
Clarissa Reynoso.
Isabel Lavrov powered a double down the left field line and proceed to steal third. Reynoso flied out to right field to bat Lavrov in, 5-5.
On a fielding error in the seventh inning, the Aggies were able to record their final run, 6-5. The Tritons were unable to respond and dropped the game to UC Davis.
GAME THREE: UC SAN DIEGO 4, UC DAVIS 0
The Tritons struck quick in the bottom of the first with two runs scored.
Deena Pederson sent a single down the left field line and stole second.
Isabel Lavrov capitalized on an Aggie error to reach and then advanced to second on the throw. Pederson advanced to third.
Keila Bosinger plated both runners with a single laced up the middle.
UC San Diego tacked on another two runs in the bottom of third beginning their attack with a single past the shortstop by Pederson. Lavrov advanced Pederson to third when she powered a stand-up double to left center. On a sac fly from Bosinger, Pederson made it home to score.
Clarissa Reynoso laced a double through the left side to plate Lavrov and extend the Tritons' lead to 4-0.
The Aggies recorded only three hits against the freshman right-hander,
Jada Cecil, who recorded six strikeout innings. UC Davis recorded one hit in the first and their final two hits wouldn't come until the sixth inning.
Kaia Simpson forced three groundouts in the seventh to seal the shutout.

- Jada Cecil moves to 15-3 on the season and now leads the Big West in seven different pitching categories. At 192 strikeouts this season, Cecil is 22 strikeouts from the UC San Diego single-season record.
- Isabel Lavrov was 3-for-6 in her two appearances today, recording four runs, two RBI with two doubles. Lavrov leads UC San Diego with 11 doubles this season.
- Clarissa Reynoso was 3-for-4 at the plate in game two and three of the series and recorded four RBI, and her seventh double of the season.
- UC San Diego moves to 8-20 in their all-time vs. record against UC Davis.
