LA JOLLA, Calif. – On April 2, in a Saturday afternoon doubleheader, UC San Diego dropped both games to Hawai'i, losing the three-game series to the Rainbow Wahine 1-2.

The Tritons move to 18-16 overall and 6-3 in the Big West, dropping into fourth. The Rainbow Wahine move to 13-11 overall and 7-2 in the Big West, now tied for first.

In game one, the Tritons were led by center fielder
Keila Bosinger who recorded one run with two hits. She recorded her seventh double of the season on her first at bat.
Gabby Williams got the start for the Tritons in game two and allowed five runs on six hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.
Shelby Thompson came in as relief for Williams in the fourth and allowed seven runs on nine hits with one strikeout and one walk.

In game two, the Tritons were led by second baseman
Isabel Lavrov who went 2-for-3 at the plate with one walk.
Jada Cecil tossed another complete game for UC San Diego, going eight innings and allowing one run on four hits with 13 strikeouts and one walk.

GAME TWO: HAWAI'I 13, UC SAN DIEGO 1
The Tritons jumped on the board early in the bottom of the first inning. In the first UC San Diego at bat,
Keila Bosinger sent a double to right center on a 1-0 count. While Bobbie Aguirre was at the plate, Bosinger slid past the Hawai'i defense to steal second. On a fielder's choice bunt, Aguirre reached and plated Bosinger, taking the lead for the Tritons, 1-0.

The teams remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when the Rainbow Wahine recorded 8 runs. In the fifth they added another five runs for a 13-1 score.

The Tritons had no response to the UH offense.

GAME THREE: HAWAI'I 1, UC SAN DIEGO 0 (8 INN.)
It was a pitcher's duel in the final game of the series as
Jada Cecil and Hawai'i's Brianna Lopez battled through seven scoreless innings. Cecil retired 13 of the 30 Rainbow Wahine she faced over eight innings.
In the top of the eighth, a Rainbow Wahine solo homerun ended Cecil's shutout and gave Hawai'i the lead, 1-0.

The Tritons threatened in the sixth and seventh but were unable to bring runners home. On their six hits, the blue and gold left five runners on base over the eight innings.

TRITON TIDBITS
- Gabby Williams recorded a career high strikeout total in game two of the series, retiring seven Rainbow Wahine.
- Keila Bosinger recorded her seventh double of the season in game two of the series. Bosinger led the Tritons in batting average against the Rainbow Wahine batting a average of .400Â over the three games.
- In her two appearances, Jada Cecil pitched a total of 15 innings with 29 strikeouts, four walks, and only one run. She faced 58 batters and pitched a total of 255 pitches, she moves to 12-2 on the season.

UC San Diego will be back home next weekend, April 8 and 9, to host Long Beach State for a three-game series. The series will open with a Friday night game at 5:00 pm. On Saturday, a doubleheader will wrap up the series with first pitch schedule for 1:00 pm. All three games will broadcast on ESPN+.
