Tritons Fall to Weber State

LA JOLLA, Calif. – The UC San Diego women's tennis team fell to Weber State by a 4-0 score on Tuesday afternoon at Northview Tennis Courts. The Tritons fought hard in singles play, forcing three matches into the third set before the Wildcats clinched the win.
 
The loss dropped the Tritons to 2-10 on the season, while Weber State is now 8-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Wildcats took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
 
In singles play, Weber State clinched the match with wins at No. 2, No. 6, and No. 3. UC San Diego senior captain Anu Bhadada was leading at No. 5, 7-5, 3-6, 2-1 when the match was clinched. Sophomore Ella Pachl (No. 1) and junior Rachel Wagner (No. 4) were also in their respective third sets when the match was halted.

"After a rough start in doubles, we battled in singles," said UC San Diego head coach Liz LaPlante. "I was pleased with our effort overall. With two starters out, we just have to keep working hard and improving."
 
TRITON TIDBITS
  • Freshman Naomi Nguyen (second doubles) returned to the Tritons lineup after missing the last two matches due to injury.
  • The loss was UC San Diego's sixth straight.

The Tritons return to Northview Tennis Courts on Wednesday to host Ball State. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. from La Jolla. Admission is free.
