LA JOLLA, Calif.— Seniors
Madison Baxter and
Emily Cangelosi scored new career highs on their Senior Day to lead UC San Diego women's basketball to a 90-48 victory over Cal Poly on Saturday afternoon in RIMAC Arena.

Baxter led the Tritons (13-14, 10-8 Big West) with 22 points, while
Parker Montgomery also set a career high with 19 points. Cangelosi added 17 points and tied
Bridget Mullings with a team-high eight rebounds, while Mullings tallied a career-high five blocks. Senior
Brianna Claros also scored in double-figures with 11 points and a team-high seven assists and senior
Julia Macabuhay finished with seven points and five assists.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons got off to a quick start with back-to-back baskets to lead 5-0 in the opening two minutes. The Mustangs answered with two buckets to make it 5-4, but it was all UC San Diego from there. The Tritons went on a 15-0 run, including three three-pointers and held a commanding 23-7 lead heading into the first quarter break.

UC San Diego hit 5-of-9 from beyond the arc in the opening period to set the tone for the rest of the contest.

The teams traded baskets to open the second quarter before back-to-back threes from Claros and Cangelosi, followed by a Montgomery built an 8-0 run for the Tritons. UC San Diego hit three more three-pointers to close out the quarter and take a commanding 47-23 lead into halftime.

The Tritons opened the second half with another eight-point run, including two-consecutive baskets and a made free-throw from
Julia Macabuhay. Baxter and Montgomery added two more threes in the closing minutes of the period and UC San Diego held a 66-31 advantage after three quarters of play.

UC San Diego hit two more threes to begin the final quarter, before another eight-point run sparked by Cangelosi and Baxter made it 80-36. Baxter,
Izzy Forsyth and
Courtni Thompson knocked down shots from beyond the arc in the closing minutes to build UC San Diego's largest lead of the game at 46 points and the Tritons took the season finale in epic fashion, 90-48.
