LA JOLLA, Calif. – In a 10-0 shutout, UC San Diego topped CSU Bakersfield in the final game of the series.

The Tritons were led by first baseman
Bobbi Aguirre who went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and four RBIs. Her grand slam homerun ended the contest early in the sixth. From in the circle, freshman
Jada Cecil tossed a complete game allowing no runs on two hits with 11 strikeouts and no walks.

The Tritons move to 14-13 overall and 2-1 in conference, while the 'Runners drop to 4-15 overall and 1-2 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego jumped on the board in the first when
Keila Bosinger sent a triple to the right field fence to reach third. On a fielding error from CSUB,
Isabel Lavrov was able to reach and plate Bosinger.

Four Tritons brought in five runs to extend the UC San Diego 1-0 lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the third.

The fourth was silent for both teams and CSU Bakersfield threatened in the fifth, but left runners on.

In the bottom of the sixth,
Alexa DeMarse laced a single through center field to get on and was able to advance to second when
Zoe Richards reached on a fielder's choice. Bosinger was hit by a 'Runner's pitch to advance DeMarse and Richards another base each. With the bases loaded,
Bobbi Aguirre sent a grand slam homerun over the left center field fence on a 3-1 pitch count to end the game early and tally four RBIs.

- Pitching a shutout, Jada Cecil recorded 11 strikeouts in today's game. This marks the third game she has tossed 10 or more strikeouts.
- Instead of the traditional batter's gloves, Bobbi Aguirre wore weightlifting gloves in today's contest. She went 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs and four RBIs.
- The Tritons are now 2-1 in conference play and 14-13 overall, moving into third place in the Big West standings.

UC San Diego is on the road for a three-game series vs. UC Santa Barbara for the second weekend of conference play. The series begins on Friday, March 25 with game one starting at 1:00 pm.
