Pacific Outlasts UC San Diego on Friday

LA JOLLA, Calif. – In its final tune-up before the start of conference play, the UC San Diego women's tennis team fell to visiting Pacific by a 4-2 score on Friday afternoon at Northview Tennis Courts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
For the second time in the last three matches, the Tritons earned the doubles point. UC San Diego's freshmen tandem of Naomi Nguyen and Katelyn Vu picked up a swift 6-2 win at No. 2. The Tigers earned the win at the third position, but UC San Diego captured the point thanks to a hard-fought 6-4 win by junior Sophie Pearson and sophomore Ella Pachl at No. 1.
 
In singles action, junior Rachel Wagner won her second straight singles decision. She was victorious at fifth singles on Friday, 6-4, 6-1. Pachl was in the lead at No. 1 when the match came to an end.

UC San Diego begins its second season of Big West play on Saturday when the Tritons host UC Irvine. The Anteaters (0-3) fell at home to Grand Canyon on Friday. First serve of Saturday's match is scheduled for Noon from Northview Tennis Courts on the UC San Diego campus.
