LA JOLLA, Calif. – UC San Diego baseball fell, 7-0, to Washington in the series finale on Sunday afternoon in Triton Ballpark. With the loss the Tritons split the four-game series with the Huskies. 2-2.

The Tritons (6-3) were held to seven hits in the contest, with
Michael Fuhrman going 2-for-5 and
Emiliano Gonzalez finishing 2-for-4. Fuhrman and
Jalen Smith each recorded a double as the only extra base hits for UC San Diego.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Huskies (5-3) scored early and often, putting runs on the board in each of the first four innings. Washington did most of its damage in the second and third innings, scoring on back-to-back RBI doubles in the second and tacking on three more runs in the third.

UC San Diego created several good opportunities early on as well. The Tritons threatened in the bottom of the first with a two-out double from J. Smith and a walk issued to Lucchetti but were unable to bring them home. In the second, UC San Diego had runners on second and third with two outs but again were unable to plate a run.

The Tritons put runners on the base paths in each of the first four innings but were unable to capitalize, ultimately stranding 11 in the contest.
TRITON TIDBITS
- Starting pitcher Ryan Forcucci (Fr., RHP) went 2.2 innings, allowing six runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
- Michael Fuhrman and Emiliano Gonzalez registered the only multi-hit games for the Tritons.Â
- It was the first time the Tritons were shutout this season.
- With the loss, the Tritons are 2-3 in the all-time series with Washington.
- UC San Diego finished the week 3-2 against Pac-12 opponents.
