HOW IT HAPPENED
UC San Diego earned a corner kick just 32 seconds into the match, but the Tritons were unable to convert a shot off the corner. In fact, UC San Diego did not officially have a first half shot until Lucy Tang ripped a shot from the top of the box that was just off target.

About a minute later, CSUN's Cindy Arteaga ripped a shot on frame, but Triton goalkeeper Keara Fitzgerald lunged to her right to make the stop, giving up a corner kick in the process. In fact, the Matadors would earn three corners in about a 75-second span, but the Triton defense kept the home side off the board.

In the 40th minute, sophomore Raquel Kalpakoff fed Lucy Tang who flipped it back to Kalpakoff. Her shot caromed off the crossbar to keep the match scoreless.

The Matadors held a commanding 11-2 shot advantage over the first 45, earning five corners to three for UC San Diego. Fitzgerald was credited with the only two saves of the first half.

In the 69th minute, Kennedy Carter ripped a shot that was saved. Carter collected the loose ball and fired another shot that was saved but resulted in a corner kick.

Courtney Hilliard had a terrific scoring chance in the 73rd with a point-blank rocket from 10 yards out but CSUN keeper Taylor Thames made the save.

In the 80th minute, Lucy Tang served the ball into the box, where Borg fought her way through the scrum and headed the ball into the back of the net to put the Tritons in front, one-nil.
