Tritons Fall to Cal State Fullerton on the Road

FULLERTON, Calif. – On the road at Cal State Fullerton, UC San Diego fell to the Titans in a 1-0 result on Wednesday night.

The Tritons drop to 6-6-2 overall and 2-3 in the Big West while the Titans move to 8-4-3 overall and 3-1-1 in the Big West.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams remained scoreless for the first 45 minutes. The Tritons took seven shots on the Titans' defense with one on frame from Jake Serpa. CSUF took three shots with two on target, Dominic Peters recorded those two saves to keep the score tied.

Serpa sent the ball with Nick Cirrito looking to knock it in, but the shot pulled the Titans' keeper off his line to guarantee the save.

Off a free kick, Fullerton's keeper came off their line again to punch out the ball from Alessandro Allen and Euan Clark put the ball back into play with a header going just wide.

In the second half, Alessandro Allen led the charge with an early shot on goal forcing the save.

The Tritons fell behind in the 58th minute when the Titans found the back of the net. Peters recorded two more saves to keep the Titans within one. The Tritons took another seven shots with six on frame in the second 45 minutes but were unable to equalize.

QUOTABLE
With the Tritons outshooting the Titans 14 (7) to 9 (5), head coach Jon Pascale commented, "our team played well and worked hard tonight. It's tough to lose a game you feel you deserved to win."
