LA JOLLA, Calif.—UC San Diego women's basketball opened its home slate with a 91-32 victory over NAIA opponent Westcliff on Wednesday evening in RIMAC Arena.
Madison Baxter scored a career high and
Parker Montgomery matched her career best, both finishing with 14 points.
Emily Cangelosi added 13 points for the Tritons and
Ula Chamberlin chipped in 10.

The Tritons (2-1) tallied 30 points off of turnovers, led by three steals for Chamberlin and two apiece for Montgomery and
Alex Obouh Fegue. Obouh Fegue also finished with six rebounds (three offensive) and
Aishah Brown led the way with nine boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Tritons jumped out to an early lead, with
Madison Baxter registering the first five points for UC San Diego and sparking a 16-2 run to control the opening period. The Tritons shot 33 percent from the field to lead 16-6 at the end of the first quarter.

UC San Diego was red hot in the second period, shooting 80 percent (12-of-15) from the field and outscoring the Warriors 26-10.
Emily Cangelosi saw her first minutes of the season and tallied six points in the half, along with
Alex Obouh Fegue and the Tritons took a 42-16 lead into the halftime break.Â

Parker Montgomery led the way out of the intermission, tallying seven of the Tritons' 21 points in the third quarter. UC San Diego used a 13-0 run to begin the period and held Westcliff to 3-of-13 from the field.

It was all Tritons in the final quarter, beginning the period on a 22-0 run led by Baxter's six points and shutting out the Warriors until the 4:51 mark. UC San Diego hit 4-of-5 from beyond the arc to close out the contest and secure the 91-32 victory.Â
