Another Big Weekend on Tap with Western Invitational at Air Force

The UC San Diego fencing team has a second-straight busy weekend as it travels to the Western Invitational, hosted by Air Force in Colorado.

Several of the top programs in the nation are set to compete in head-to-head action on Saturday, November 13 and Sunday, November 14.

The Tritons will join nine other teams - Air Force, Brandeis, Columbia, Incarnate Word, New Jersey Institute of Technology, North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and Stanford at Cadet Gymnasium.

Seven rounds of bouts are scheduled for Saturday with another five slated for Sunday.

On opening day, UC San Diego faces Northwestern (women only), Brandeis, Notre Dame, Columbia, and North Carolina. Sunday's slate includes Incarnate Word, NJIT, Stanford, and Air Force.

Fans can follow all of the action with a live stream at streamingtennis.com/USAFA.

Admission is free for the Western Invitational.

UC San Diego is coming off a packed weekend as host of the 25th BladeRunner Tournament at RIMAC Arena in La Jolla, California. Roughly 800 competitors took to the strips to compete in Division 1-A and Junior levels of men's and women's epee, foil, and saber. The Tritons posted three podium finishes and 11 top-10 placings at the Division 1-A tier.

This is UC San Diego's first season competing as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF). The conference announced in early August that it will begin sponsoring the sport.
