LA JOLLA, Calif. – With the move to Division I quickly approaching, Triton fans can expect to see a newly-renovated Triton Soccer Stadium in the fall that will provide them with a first-class game day experience. Fans throughout the country will benefit from the modernized stadium, as the cutting-edge improvements will enhance the live online broadcasts, which will air on ESPN3 for the first time this fall.
"As a coach of this program and an alumna, it's important to me that we're keeping the tradition of this field," said Women's Soccer Head Coach Kristin Jones. "We're seeing that these enhancements are getting us to the level we need to when we make the push to Division I. Being able to have people sitting in the stands with these enhancements and looking at a familiar field with all the memories and the passion, we couldn't ask for anything more."
One of the key renovations of Triton Soccer Stadium is the addition of chairback seats. A total of 663 seats will be installed in the stadium, along with 10 ADA seats and 10 companion seats.
"We're going to see real bucket seats go in, which will improve the aesthetics of the facility, not to mention the viewer experience," said Men's Soccer Head Coach
Jon Pascale. "It'll be more comfortable for the fans."
Additionally, Triton Soccer Stadium will be upgraded with its first-ever, state of the art press box. The 10 feet by 42 feet press box will feature an elevated video platform in order to provide an optimal view for the live ESPN3 broadcasts.
"[It'll] give a great angle to view the games and have them streamed on ESPN3," Pascale noted. "It'll help the coaches as we break down film and find areas for our teams to improve in."
Both Jones and Pascale have noticed the excitement around the upgraded stadium.
"I know our scholar-athletes can't wait," Pascale said. "They've seen the enhancements within RIMAC, the basketball and volleyball facility, as well as the baseball facility and softball facility. Our guys are so excited to see that work get done here."
"I think the alumni and everyone are going to be proud of what we're doing here with the enhancements," Jones shared.
The Tritons' home schedules for their inaugural Division I seasons will be announced at a later date.
