The Tritons quickly turned things around in the second quarter, going on a 13-1 run in the first six minutes to take a 10-point lead (24-14). UC San Diego ultimately held the Pioneers to just nine points during the quarter to hold a 30-22 advantage at halftime.
The Tritons kept their momentum going in the third quarter, never surrendering their lead. In the fourth, UC San Diego was able to close it out to capture a 59-46 victory.
Brianna Claros shined in the win, with a game-high 20 points. The mark was a new career high for the sophomore, as she shot 54% (7-13) on the night and 63% (5-8) from beyond the arc. Claros' seven rebounds led the team and were another collegiate best.

Senior duo
Sydney Sharp and
Stephanie Moore each collected five rebounds on the night and contributed nine and six points, respectively.
"It was a great team win," said Head Coach
Heidi VanDerveer. "We had people really step up and grind out each possession. I thought Bri Claros was the difference tonight. She pushed our pace and ran our team. She had tremendous poise and competitiveness.
"
Tyla Turner made big shots, and Syd Sharp and Steph Moore provided us great leadership. Syd hit big shots and they both rebounded well. We competed hard and earned a big win on the road."
UC San Diego will remain up north for its next game. The Tritons will take on Cal State Monterey Bay at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
