FIELD TRIP DAY
UC San Diego is excited to host Field Trip Day as the Tritons battle Sonoma State at noon on Thursday. Open to all children in grades three through five, Field Trip Day includes free admission, UC San Diego-themed giveaways, educational programming, and fun and energy at the game. MOST RECENT MATCHUPS
The Tritons won all six of last year's matchups with this week's opponents. UC San Diego topped Dominguez Hills at home, 89-70, and on the road, 89-73. Against Sonoma State, the Tritons won 86-47 at home and 79-61 in Rohnert Park. The Tritons defeated Cal Poly Pomona 101-72 during the regular season, and again by a score of 72-60 to claim the CCAA Tournament title.

HEAD COACH HEIDI VANDERVEER
A former WNBA coach, Olympic team scout and assistant for the legendary Pat Summitt at the University of Tennessee, Heidi VanDerveer enters her eighth season as the UC San Diego head coach in 2019-20. VanDerveer was named the CCAA Coach of the Year for the fourth-consecutive season in 2018-19 as well as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) West Region Coach of the Year for the second-straight year.
 
WHAT'S NEXT
The Tritons will see their first action of 2020 when they battle Cal State Monterey Bay. UC San Diego will take on the Otters at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 at RIMAC Arena.

BIG WEST BOUND
UC San Diego is in its 20th and final year playing as an NCAA Division II team. In July of 2020, the entire athletics program will begin a four-year transition to NCAA Division I, culminating in full DI status as a member of the Big West Conference for the 2024-25 academic year. At that time, all sports will be eligible for conference and NCAA postseason play.
