Tritons Dominate Cal State Stanislaus 81-68

LA JOLLA, Calif. - Farrah Shokoor recorded a double-double and Jamie Katuna scored 18 points off the bench as the UC San Diego women's basketball team routed Cal State Stanislaus, 81-68, on Friday at RIMAC Arena.

With the win, UCSD now has an even overall record at 5-5 and are 3-2 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), while the Warriors drop to 3-6 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

The Tritons started the game slow and found themselves in a nine point deficit, 14-5, after CSUS made four 3-pointers and a mid-range jumper to start the game.

UCSD shook off the early woes and scored 25 unanswered points, capped off by a Katuna layup to create a 16-point gap, 30-14. The Tritons would not relinquish the lead as they led at halftime, 42-34.

The Warriors cut the deficit to six, 44-38, with 17:09 left in the game after a Briana Cotton free throw. UCSD continued the scoring onslaught and cruised the rest of the way for the 13-point victory as the gap between the two schools became insurmountable.

Shokoor nabbed her fifth double-double of the season, third in a row, by scoring 22 points and grabbing 15 rebounds and Miranda Seto contributed for 15 points. For Shokoor, it was the seventh time in ten games going over the 10-rebound mark.

The Triton bench outscored the CSUS bench, 31-12, led by Katuna's 18 points. Cassie MacLeod was also a non-starter and came in to score nine points in nine minutes.

For the Warriors, Camille Roberts led the way with 18 points.

UCSD will host Chico State tomorrow at RIMAC Arena. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
