LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego women's basketball team's winning streak is now at five games after defeating San Francisco State, 94-61, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup on Saturday at RIMAC Arena. The Tritons shot a season-high 66.7 percent (40-60) from the floor and 45.5 percent (5-11) from behind the arc.

With the win, UCSD improves to 8-5 overall and 6-2 in the CCAA, while the Gators remain winless at 0-12 overall and 0-8 in the conference.

The Tritons and SF State battled it out in the beginning as UCSD led the Gators by one point, 10-9, after a Beth Mounier three-point basket. The Tritons would go on an 8-2 run, ignited by a Cassie MacLeod layup, to lead 18-11 with 13:08 left in the first period.

The Gators would answer back and score six unanswered points to cut the deficit to a single point, 18-17. However, UCSD would go on a 12-2 run, capped off by a Farrah Shokoor layup, to increase the advantage to double digits, 30-19, with 8:40 left in the half.

SF State would score six unanswered points once again to cut the Triton lead to 30-25. It would be the closest the Gators would get for the remainder of the contest, as UCSD closed the period with a 20-8 run for a 50-33 bulge at halftime.

The Tritons outscored the Gators 44-28 in the second half to cruise to a 94-61 victory.

Brittaney Allison led the way for SF State with 18 points. Leti Galarza was the only other Gator in double digits with 10.

Shokoor recorded her seventh double-double of the season with game highs of 20 points and 15 rebounds, to go along with five assists and a block. In just her second start this season, MacLeod scored 17 points and dished out four assists. Off the bench, Mounier added 16 points and Taylor Tanita was perfect from the field (3-3) to score six points, and had five dimes.

UCSD will go on the road to face Cal State L.A. on Friday, Jan. 16 for its next matchup. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
