LA JOLLA, Calif. - The UC San Diego women's basketball team defeated Sonoma State, 69-59, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup on Friday at RIMAC Arena to earn their fourth straight win.

With the win, UCSD improves to 7-5 overall and 5-2 in the CCAA while the Seawolves falls to 6-5 overall and 4-3 in the conference. 

The Triton defense came out of the gates strong as they did not allow a single basket for the first six minutes of the game. Sonoma State's JoNae Gonzalez would hit a free throw for the first point as UCSD led 6-1 with 13:58 left in the first half. 

The Tritons would grab its biggest lead in the first half, 32-17, after a Cassie MacLeod layup with 1:37 left in the period. UCSD would go into halftime with a comfortable 14-point lead, 35-21. 

The Tritons started the second half on a 9-0 run to lead the Seawolves 44-21 with 17:23 left in the game. UCSD would grab the biggest lead of the game, 62-32, after a Dana Webster layup with 9:28 left on the clock. 

Sonoma State tried to mount a comeback as they finished the game on a 27-7 run, but the UCSD lead was insurmountable as the Tritons earned the 10-point victory, 69-59. 

Taylor Acosta led the way for the Seawolves with 10 points. 

UCSD finished with two players earning double-doubles. Dana Webster grabbed her second double-double of the season as she finished the game with game-best 15 points and 10 rebounds. Farrah Shokoor also recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Cassie MacLeod, in her first start this season, scored 12 points for the Tritons. 

The Tritons will try to go for their fifth straight win against San Francisco State on Staurday,Jan. 10. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m.
