No. 21 UCSD Snaps Losing Streak with 65-52 Win at CSU Dominguez Hills

CARSON, Calif. - The 21st-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team snapped its two-game losing streak with a convincing 65-52 road victory at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Friday evening in The Torodome on the CSUDH campus in Carson. With the win the Tritons improve to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play while the Toros fall to 8-5 overall and 2-4 in league play.

CSUDH took a 2-0 lead on a Michelle Kribell jumped just one minute into the game, but that would be the last advantage that the Toros would hold in the key CCAA matchup. The Tritons would score the next eight points and eventually hold a 33-29 lead at intermission. UCSD would allow CSUDH to tie the game at 41 apiece at the 13:19 mark, but a 12-1 run over the next four minutes, capped off by a 3-pointer by Meaghan Noud, would put the Tritons up for good.

Noud would finish with a game-high 24 points that included a 6-for-15 performance from long range. Erin Noonan added 15 points while Michelle Osier contributed a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double in the win.

Brigayle Iglehart led the Toros with 15 points while Ennisha Kyles chipped in with 10 points and a team-high six rebounds.

UCSD led in nearly every statistical category, shooting 51.0% from the floor and an impressive 40.0% (8-for-20) from long range. CSUDH shot only 42.6% from the field, including a woeful 1-for-9 from beyond the arc. The Tritons also held a 35-29 advantage on the glass, but did commit 20 turnovers, one more than the Toros.

First year head coach Charity Elliott and her squad will return to action on Saturday evening, playing at Cal State L.A. The Tritons and Golden Eagles are slated to begin the CCAA contest at 5:30 p.m. in The Eagles' Nest. CSULA enters the game with a 4-7 overall record and a 1-4 league mark after losing by 20 points at Cal State Dominguez Hills two nights ago.
