No. 18 UCSD Wins Sixth in a Row, Tops Cal State Dominguez Hills 68-64

LA JOLLA, Calif. - The 18th-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team got 32 points from Leora Juster and another 19 from fellow senior Hillary Hansen in the 68-64 victory over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills on Tuesday night in RIMAC Arena. The victory was UCSD's sixth in a row and pushes the Tritons' record to 16-3 on the year and 12-2 in CCAA play while dropping CSUDH to 10-8 overall and 7-7 in conference action.

Juster topped the 30-point barrier for the seventh time this season and the 12th time in her career during the victory on Tuesday night. Her final two points counted as the game-winner, sinking a 15-foot jumper with only 29 seconds remaining to break the 64-64 tie. Hansen added two insurance free throws with one second to go for her 19 points. Both Juster and Hansen also grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

Jessica Liang led four CSUDH players in double-digit scoring on the night, scoring 16 points on 6-for-15 shooting from the floor. Brigayle Iglehart added 11 points, six boards and a game-high seven assists while both Alana Bailey and Michelle Kribell chipped in with 10 points in the loss.

As a team the Tritons made only 18 of 54 shots from the floor for a poor .333 shooting percentage but managed to make 26 of 28 shots from the foul line. Conversely, the Toros made 28 of 65 shots from the floor for a solid .431 shooting percentage but only went to the foul line four times, making two of their charity shots.

The rest of the team stats were nearly equal as both teams grabbed 37 rebounds, made six 3-pointers and had five steals apiece on the night. The Tritons committed 12 turnovers in the game, one more than CSUDH, and dished out 15 assists, three less than the Toros.

Head coach Janell Jones' squad, which moved up one spot to No. 18 in the latest ESPN/USA Today Top-25 Coaches' Poll, will return to action on Friday and Saturday nights, taking on Sonoma State and Humboldt State, respectively. Both games are slated for 5:30 p.m. starts inside RIMAC Arena.
