TURLOCK, Calif. ? The 19th-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team had four players score in double figures en route to a 76-48 victory over Cal State Stanislaus on Thursday night in Warrior Arena. With the victory the Tritons improve to 14-3 on the season and 10-2 in CCAA play while dropping the Warriors to 4-13 overall and 1-12 in league action.
UCSD held a 43-20 advantage at halftime and out-scored Cal State Stanislaus by a 33-28 margin. As a team the Tritons shot 46.0% from the floor and an impressive 42.9% from behind the 3-point arc while limiting the Warriors to 30.8% from the floor and a meager 1-for-15 (6.7%) from long range.
Senior Leora Juster led all UCSD scorers on the night with 22 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Sophomore Michelle Osier added 17 points and seven boards while juniors Meaghan Noud and Alexis Mezzetta chipped in with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Junior Jillian Ricks scored seven rebounds and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds while Noud made a career-high five steals for the Tritons.
Gwendolyn Page led CSUS with 22 points that included an impressive 10-for12 performance from the charity stripe. Lysandra Williams added 11 points in the loss for the Warriors.
UCSD sweeps the season series from the Warriors, winning by an average of 34.0 points. The Tritons posted a 97-57 win earlier this season in RIMAC Arena on December 2. UCSD has won the last eight meetings between the two programs with the last CSUS victory in the series coming by a 77-70 margin on February 8, 2003.
Head coach Janell Jones and the Tritons return to action on Saturday, traveling to 8th-ranked Chico State for a 1 p.m. game that will be televised live on CSTV.
