SAN FRANCISCO, Cailf. ? The 25th-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team led by only two points at halftime but pulled away in the second stanza for a convincing 91-71 victory over San Francisco State on Friday night. The Tritons, who led by as many as 32 points in the second half, improve to 12-3 overall on the year and 8-2 in CCAA play while SFSU drops to 4-11 overall, 4-6 in conference action.
Junior Meaghan Noud led four UCSD players in double figure scoring, netting a career-high 23 points while Leora Juster added 22. Juster's fellow senior, Hillary Hansen, chipped in with 11 points while freshman Erin Noonan set a new career-high with 11 points in only seven minutes of play, going 3-for-4 from long range while making both of her free throw attempts.
Sophomore Alexis Gaskin added four points and was tied with Hansen for a team-high in rebounds, grabbing eight on the night.
SFSU also had four players score double digits led by Jessica Hout-Freeman's 20 points on 8 of 13 shooting. Brio Rode added 13 while Krystle Mays and Chloe Grimm scored 11 points apiece.
As a team the Tritons made 62.5% of their shots from long range, going 10-for-16 from behind the arc. Both Noud and Noonan made three apiece while Juster made both of her attempts. Jillian Ricks and Kacie Kostlan also made one shot each from 3-point territory.
UCSD was also deadly from the foul line, going 21-for-24. Noud made all six of her attempts while Hansen netted 5 of 6.
All 14 players that the Tritons traveled to the contest played in the game.
Head coach Janell Jones and her squad returns to action on Saturday evening, traveling to Cal State Monterey Bay for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at the Kelp Bed.
