TURLOCK, Calif. ? The 21st-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team snapped its two-game losing streak with a convincing 89-58 win at Cal State Stanislaus on Saturday evening in Warrior Arena.
The Warriors (6-15, 2-12 CCAA) played close in the first half, taking their last lead of the game, 13-12, at the 12-minute mark, before the Tritons (16-4, 11-3 CCAA) got their offense rolling taking a 40-25 lead over the Warriors heading into the break.
In the second, the Tritons proved too much outscoring the Warriors 49-33 to maintain the lead for the win.
Turnovers again plagued the Warriors with 33 against only 18 for the Tritons.
Junior Leora Juster led all scorers with 26 points for UCSD while freshman Michelle Osier had 15 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior Hillary Hansen added 10 points, four boards and three steals.
Latricia Nickelberry led Cal State Stanislaus with 14 points while Gwen Page had 11.
UCSD returns home next week for three games in RIMAC Arena. The Tritons will host Cal State San Bernardino on Wednesday night and Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday evening. Both of those games are slated for 5:30 p.m. starts. UCSD will then host Grand Canyon in a non-conference game at 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
