25th-Ranked Tritons Win 10th-Straight, Down San Francisco State 93-57

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. ? The 25th-ranked UC San Diego women's basketball team made it 10-straight with a convincing 93-57 victory at San Francisco State on Saturday evening.

With the win the Tritons improve to 14-2 overall and stay tied atop the CCAA standings at 9-1. SFSU falls to 5-12 overall and 0-10 in league action.  UCSD remains in a tie with No. 17 Cal State Bakersfield who defeated No. 12 Chico State on Saturday night to drop the Wildcats into second place at 8-2 in conference play.

After UCSD fell behind by a 5-4 score with 17 minutes remaining in the first half, a 15-4 run over the next four minutes propelled the Tritons to a 10-point advantage that would never be challenged. Head coach Janell Jones' team led by 15 at half and scored 56 points in the second stanza to pull away for the 36-point margin of victory.

Freshman Michelle Osier had a big night for the Tritons, scoring 16 points and grabbing a career-high 19 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive end. Junior Leora Juster added 16 points while Hillary Hansen chipped in with 14. Kim Buffum and Meaghan Noud rounded out the UCSD players who scored in double-digits, pouring in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Bobbie Waldon and Krystal Mays each scored 12 points in the loss for the Gators who end the first half of the CCAA campaign winless.

The Tritons return to action next weekend in RIMAC Arena, hosting Cal State L.A. on Friday night and Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday evening. Both games are slated for 5:30 p.m. starts.

Friday night's contest with the Golden Eagles takes place on Spirit Night, the culmination of a week-long spirit rally on the UCSD campus. It is also a revenge game for the Tritons whose only loss in CCAA play this season came at Cal State L.A. on December 3, 2005. Since that defeat, UCSD is a perfect 10-0.
