Freshman Shawn Kim placed first in the Division I Saber event at the 24th BladeRunner Fencing Tournament, which was hosted by UC San Diego inside RIMAC Arena this past weekend. Kim topped the 64-competitor field by posting a perfect 6-0 record in pool action and moving on to win six consecutive direct elimination bouts to take the title. It is the second straight year that Kim has won the event as he did so in 2018 as a club fencer.
